Tokyo Olympics: कोरोना वायरस (coronavirus) के खतरे को देखते हुए टोक्यो ओलंपिक (Tokyo Olympics) को स्थगित कर दिया गया है. इसे अब 2021 में आयोजित किया जाएगा. बता दें कि अगले साल यानि 2021 को होने वाला ओलंपिक टोक्यो 2020 ओलंपिक ही कहा जाएगा. जापान के प्रधानमंत्री शिंजो आबे (Japan PM Shinzo Abe) ने कोरोनावायरस के बढ़ते खतरे को देखते हुए अंतरराष्ट्रीय ओलंपिक समिति (IOC ) पर ओलंपिक को टालने पर बात की थी जिसके बाद आईओसी (IOC) ने पीएम की बात को मानते हुए ओलंपिक को स्थगित करने का फैसला लिया. आईओसी के अध्यक्ष थॉमस बाक से बातचीत करने के बाद आबे ने यहां संवाददाताओं से कहा, “मैंने एक साल के लिए खेलों को स्थगित करने का प्रस्ताव रखा था और अध्यक्ष बाक ने इसके लिए अपनी सहमति दे दी है।” दूसरे विश्व युद्ध के बाद ऐसा पहली बार हुआ है कि ओलम्पिक खेलों को स्थगित किया गया हो।

आबे ने बाक के साथ मंगलवार को फोन पर बात की और दोनों स्थगित करने के समझौते पर तैयार हो गए। आईओसी पर काफी दिनों से कोरोनावायरस के कारण खेलों को स्थगित करने का दबाव था। कनाडा ने साफ तौर पर कह दिया था कि अगर ओलम्पिक को एक साल तक के लिए आगे नहीं बढ़ाया जाता है तो वह इस बार खेलों में हिस्सा नहीं लेगा। यही बात आस्ट्रेलिया ने भी कही थी और अमेरिका तथा ग्रेट ब्रिटेन ने भी खेलों को टालने की बात कही थी।

इसके अलावा अमेरिका ओलम्पिक समिति और पैरालम्पिक समिति ने अपने देश के 2,000 खिलाड़ियों का सर्वे करने के बाद कहा है कि इसी साल टोक्यो में होने वाले ओलिम्पिक खेलों को स्थगित करना बेहतर होगा। समाचार एजेंसी सिन्हुआ के मुताबिक, अमेरिका की ओलम्पिक और पैरालाम्पिक समिति ने सप्ताह के अंत में 4,000 से ज्यादा लोगों का कोरोनावायरस के कारण फैली स्थिति को लेकर सर्वे किया था जिसमें से 1,780 खिलाड़ियों ने प्रतिक्रिया दी है।
बता दें कि विश्व स्वास्थ्य संगठन (WHO) के अनुसार, दुनियाभर में अब तक 3,30,000 से ज़्यादा मरीज़ हो चुके हैं, और अब तक 14,000 से ज़्यादा लोग कोरोनावायरस से हुए COVID-19 की वजह से जान गंवा चुके हैं.
